Redoubt Bay Bear Adventure

This group of fishing boats would line up around the inlet trying to snag the numerous salmon.  Every 30 minutes...the boat in front (closest to the shoreline on the left) would rotate to the back, and the next boat would move up closer to the pool of salmon.  You could literally see the salmon leaping out of the water all around us.  But....the closer you got to the creek leading into the Bay.....the more salmon there would be near your boat.  Of course, that was also BEAR TERRITORY!  The first two boats in this picture were no more than 5-7 feet from those bears when they appeared and jumped into the water.  Our pontoon boat was approximately 25-30 yards from shore.  There were quite a few fishermen who did not even flinch when those bears started to come out into the water.  They were there to fish.....and they could've cared less about those bears!  And the bears didn't really seem to care much about them either!
